Ohio Vacation: Day 1

One of these days I will get caught up on my blog but until then things will be a little out of order!

On June 25th we set out for our big summer vacation in Ohio with my family!!  We had SO MUCH FUN!!!

We left on a Friday and I had to work that day since I was low on vacation days after using up my pool of days for maternity leave.  I went in super early so we could leave in time to catch our 3pm flight.  Hudson was very excited to fly on an airplane.  He has been on a plane before but didn't remember it at all.  We were a little stressed on the way to the airport.  We thought we had left in plenty of time but a huge rainstorm was rolling in from the hurricane building up in the golf and the rain was slowing the traffic down.  It had been bright and sunny in The Woodlands but only 20 min away it was like a monsoon!  We had all of our luggage in the back of the truck and were worried it would get drenched!  However, we ended up getting very lucky and we missed the majority of the rain.  We made it to the airport in plenty of time to still take an hour getting checked in and make it to our gate on time.

We were not able to get our seating all together but were able to manage getting Jason and Hudson in one row and London and I in the row in front of them.  The guy sitting by the window next to Hudson was not willing to swap with me so it was only fair that he was tortured by Hudson constantly asking, "Daddy, are we flying yet?!?!?!" and "Daddy, are we there yet?".  However, I had a very nice man next to me who exchanged seats with me so I could be in the isle and we could pass things back and forth (like London).  Hudson had no idea what it would feel like to be flying so literally every 2 minutes he would ask if we were flying!  Jason kept telling him, "I promise, you will know when we are flying!".  The first picture is Hudson waiting anxiously.  The second picture is of him watching out the window in awe as we take off!  He was smiling from ear to ear!

This was London's first time on an airplane and she was not quite as excited as Hudson.  We were VERY crammed in our isle.  She was very tired but I didn't have room to lay her down and get her to sleep.  I passed her back to Jason, he got her to sleep, then passed her back.  She slept right up until landing time.  We were all ready to be back on the ground and to see my Mom and Aunt Beth greeting us at the airport!!

Aunt Beth borrowed this van from her brother's dealership.  It was very nice but we could not figure out the mechanical seats in the third row!  We probably spent a good hour trying to figure them out...we just knew it had to be something simple and didn't want to give up!  Eventually we had to though and figured out a way to pile into the van without half of the third row.  Then we were on our way to Willard!!  Yay!!

Both kids fell sound asleep on the way home so I put them in bed as soon as we arrived and then headed down to say hello to everyone!

The next day, June 26th, was Lake Fest!!!!!  We went with a Tiki theme for our boat this year and after lots of creativity and hard work....we won FIRST PLACE!!!  Whoo-hooo!!!!

Here are some pictures of hanging out in the sun by the water and just enjoying some much needed family time:

Aunt Beth's Dad is a collector of cars.  He brought this awesome car over and he let Hudson get in and pretend to drive.  Hudson couldn't have been happier.  Cars are pretty much his favorite thing ever!!!  (and this one was his favorite color so he liked it that much more!)

We had so much fun on our first full day here!!  We have such a fun family and there's nothing better than laughing and hanging out with all of them at one time!
