God's Wonders

I feel like we often go on with our day to day activities and rarely pause to observe the awesomeness of God's creations.

I love quiet weekend mornings sitting by my pool and just observing the sounds and sights of nature.  This morning I have an amazing view of the moon.  As I was looking up at it I started to think about what it would be like if it was something I was seeing for the first time; if I had not grown up knowing what it was.  It is so cool that we can see our moon so clearly even though it is so far away.  It is difficult to put words to the feeling but it is a humbling and peaceful feeling.

Then, next to me, my dog is busy being frustrated that there is a frog in our hot tub that she cannot get at.  She knows it is not supposed to be there and wants to grab it more than anything! As much as I love nature, it's also drives me crazy that the frogs always want to go for a swim in our pool!  So gross!!

Hurricane Harvey

It has been years since I last wrote a blog.  I miss it.  While Hurricane Harvey has wrecked havoc on Houston and surrounding areas, it has given me a chance to catch up on things around the house and even attempt a blog post or two!

I love documenting our every day life so the kids will have the memories to look back on while also sharing my diluted opinions, outlook and experiences of life.

My children have been good to entertain themselves by throwing toy grenades at each other, riding their bikes in the rain, arguing endlessly, playing games and of course watching way too much tv or playing on their electronic devices way more than should be allowed.

I've enjoyed pretending I'm a stay-at-home mom and have cooked each meal and even baked desserts.  Aside from playing referee, I could totally get used to this...maybe one day!  I have also enjoyed checking things of my list that I've been wanting to do around the house forever but haven't been able to do the regular insanity of life.  It's been great to be here to make them take time to practice their instruments, read, use their imaginations to play, practice cheer (London), clean up after themselves and practice multiplication (Hudson).  I can wash/fold clothes and clean up the house while I work from home.  So many pluses!  Then we turn on the news and we are reminded of all the devastation taking place just outside of our neighborhood.  So, so sad.

Welcome Back World!

It has been a very long time since my last post and I've missed blogging about my family.  I miss noting all of the details I don't want to forget about my kids and this time in our lives.  As our baby has grown out of the baby stage, I am faced by the reality of how quickly time goes by and how I will not get to experience these moments again.  I don't want to forget the little things.

Hudson is in his last month of Kindergarten at Metzler Elementary School! It has been so much fun to see how much he enjoys school.  He has become so independent in so many ways and is very proud of this characteristic.

He has his first loose tooth that should be coming out any day now!  He is a bit envious of all the other kids that have already lost teeth and had visits from the Tooth Fairy.  London has been watching us wiggle his tooth and asked if she could give it a try...

Hudson is also playing T-ball right now and will finish up the season with his final game this Saturday.  Go Red Sox!!

Miss London is in Pre-School and started wearing uniforms this year.  She is very much over wearing a uniform and is ready to get back to a more fashionable style.  She has a serious addiction to shoes.  She is a major girlie girl that doesn't like dresses.
She is doing gymnastic right now and loves every minute of it!  I just enrolled her in a pre-ballet class for the fall and can't wait to see her in dance class!

This little girl loves to be crazy and make people laugh.  Her laugh is like no other and is highly contagious!

Happy Birthday To Me!

August 16, 2011

Here is my 33rd birthday celebration at work:
 Yummy cupcakes by Christi!

My delicious tres leches cake that my hubby had waiting when I got home!  Mmmmm.  I wish I had a piece now.  Instead, these 33 year old eyes are getting heavy so I'm going to call it night after this post.  More updates will be on the way....

Art in the Tub

August 14, 2011

I got the kids some new bathtub markers to play with and Hudson drew me a masterpiece right away!

Fun At The Splash Pad

August 12, 2011

I decided to take the kids down the road to the new Splash Pad!  They loved it!  I loved it!  It is such a great park with a perfect set up.  The kids had fun splashing and running though the water.  After they were done on the splash pad, we walked over to the playground where they played until they were dry enough to get back into the car and head home.

Katrina's Birthday Party

August 7, 2011

We had a party-packed weekend!  Hudson's next birthday party was, his girlfriend, Katrina's party.  It was our first time to attend a Chuck-E Cheese and I hope we don't have to go again!  The bathrooms were completely disgusting and I felt like I needed to coat myself with anti-bacterial lotion from head to toe!  Then it was next to impossible to get Hudson out of the hamster tunnels.  I had to hide and pretend I left him in order to scare him out.  I was sooooo angry.  It was not enjoyable at all.  I didn't allow him to have his goodie bag due to the fact he would not leave when it was time.  When we got home he asked me to come sit on the stairs with him so we could have a chat and he proceeded to try his very best to convince me to hand over the goodie bag.  No luck Chuck!

John's Birthday Party

August 6, 2011

Hudson's buddy from school, John, celebrated his 5th birthday at The Woodlands Recreation Center.  It was a Lego themed party so the kids got to build cars out of Legos and race them.

Oh Londie Lu...

August 2011

I feel like a broken record as I continually catch myself telling people London is a feisty one but boy is she!  This girl does not lack personality!

She finds dinner time to be entertainment time.  I think she feels like her special chair puts her on a bit of a stage.  She makes faces, sings songs, talks non-stop, and usually tells us how much she doesn't like her food...."I don't like it!" she says.  Unless there is ketchup for her to stick her fingers in and then she tells us, "I like ketchup! mmmm!".  She's also a big fan of chicken, lunch meat (not on a sandwich), and fruit.  Right now her fruit of choice is either grapes or apples.

She is suddenly Ms. Independent.  We constantly hear, "No, I do it!".  She wants to walk into school (no more carrying her) with her backpack on, holding Hudson's hand...soooooo cute!  She must walk up and down the stairs all by herself.  If you try to help her in or out of a vehicle, you can be sure a tantrum will ensue.  However, she is still super, duper snugly and sweet as pie.

She is a major girlie girl.  She finally loves hair bows and she has a major shoe addiction.  She loves walking around with a purse and sunglasses.  She loves anything soft that she can hold close, wrap around herself, or feel with her fingers.  She's a girlie girl...no doubt.

She gets in trouble a lot for saying, "Hush your mouth!".  I've decided to start ignoring her because getting onto her only makes her say it more.  It is very hard to discipline her because she is a little parrot. If I say, "London, no!", she says, "Mommy, no!".  It goes on and on so I just have to put her in time out and hope she gets the point.

She is very, very smart.  She has been able to count to 10, knows all of her basic shapes and colors, and can say her ABC's ever since late/spring early summer.  She has already started to memorize her favorite books.  Some of which include: Brown Bear, Good Night Moon, and Little Princess.  She LOVES books.  We usually have to read through nearly every book she has when I sit down to read with her.  She also LOVES puzzles and it amazes me how fast she can do some of the more difficult ones.  She also really wants to start sitting on the potty all of the time.  She gets really mad if I'm in a hurry when changing her diaper and I don't let her sit on the potty for a while after I take her diaper off.  HOPEFULLY this is a sign she'll be easy to potty train when she gets just a little bigger.

Those Dang I-Teeth!

August 3, 2011 (yes, I'm that far behind!)

London was having a hard time with her last few teeth coming through so she decide to take her frustrations out on her friends and sunk her teeth into them.  She actually met the "3 bite limit" at school so I had to leave work to go pick her up.  I had recently taken her binkies away but the school suggested I give them back until her teeth come in.  So, we got to go through breaking the binky habit twice.  However, giving them back to her did work and she stopped biting her friends.

This was the day I had to pick her up (she was very happy to get those binkies back...so much so that she thought 2 would be better than one!):
